How Do I get Traffic Without Going Broke?

There are a couple ways to get started, visit discussion groups and participate, help people out in your field of expertise, write articles for submission to ezines, they are always looking for content. You can also sign up for some free traffic generators, although these usually work best if you already have a good list. These lists really work for the person that developed them; you may get a trickle of traffic, unless you really get out and promote it. You should create a byline (short catchy phrase) and a signature file, which is basically a short description of your website and of course include your URL. These should be on everything you do, articles, email, etc...

Writing articles with good and new content may very well be the best method of getting traffic as well as improving your SEO (search engine optimization). A lot of people work to improve their position or page rank in the search engines. There are just as many trying to find ways of deceiving the search engines (black hat tricks) don't get caught up in this. Believe me, it looks good and works for a while, but sooner or later it will come back and bite you.

In my opinion, there are only a couple ways of getting noticed by the search engines. I know when the search engines close some of their loop holes; the two things that doesn't seem to get bumped too much is the websites with several good content pages and links closely related to your website. CONTENT IS KING, closely followed by links.

Linking is another area that you have to be a little careful; there are good and bad links. There are 2 types of links.
  1. Reciprocal (exchange links with another site) the higher their rank the better.
  2. One way link ( find a way to get your link on someone elses site) pointing to your website.

One way links carry more weight than a reciprocal links as far as page rank goes. The main thing to look for is a very close relationship to your website and the ranking of the other website. The other website needs to have a higher page rank or position than yours if possible. That is another good reason for writing articles, if someone uses your article on their website it will create a one way link back. The downfall is you can't control the article and it may be used on a lower ranking website or not related to yours.
