What has the World Cup and Marketing got to do with anything?

I just heard in the last few days that it is the event of all events in terms of attendance. They said the superbowl was a miniscule event in comparison. I knew there is more soccer being played in the US to day than ever before. It still doesn't have much drawing power compared to basketball, baseball, and football, at least here in the US.

From everything I've heard and read about numbers of fans, there is a huge market out there. I wish I had realized this a little earlier, I would have tried to find some way to capitalize on it. I bet that the next time I will find something to offer a market as large as this. We spend untold hours trying to find and drive traffic to our websites. Here is an ideal situation to jump in, I forgot how many blogs started just the last few days related to World Cup information.

The funny thing about this whole situation is I don't even keep up with the World Cup, other than all the episodes off the field. One of my RSS feeds had an article related to health issues of fans and there are plenty during the games. Many experts have stated that the incidence of high blood pressure and heart attacks reach new levels during the event.

It was at that time I thought, if fans are willing to risk their health over their teams, I bet they would spend some money also. Now, it's late at night and I'm tired but I wondered if a person could make money selling aspirin to these fans. I see it advertized all the time on TV. I wonder if some smart marketer will find a way to use this data to make some money at the next event? Maybe they already are.

With the number of people involved there has to be a massive amount of money changing hands. I bet I will try and find out more about this before the next World Cup. To bad all this data started during the event instead of months ahead.
