Something Interesting
I just read something interesting and I think for newbies it is probably true. It said, that most internet marketers also worked another job and their time to work on marketing was very limited. It also said this was a fact that most marketing guru's were missing. They suggested that any products being offered to internet marketers should take the time factor into consideration. The article suggested that a maximum of 2 - 3 hours per day was all that would be available to work on projects.
It also suggested, that we need to work at describing anything we are trying to sell in a paragraph or less. It would make us better sales letter writers and create less hype which should be a good thing. Internet users are sure complaining about all the hype about products; sometimes I think that boils down to seeing the same thing promoted from an unlimited number of affiliates. Since most guru's want everyone promoting their products they create and give away a few ways to promote the product. Then, everyone grabs the promotional material and plugs it into their websites, sends them out in emails, installs ads in newsletters.
Of course, the reason for this is they stand to make a commission if someone buys the product. The guru's know that to reach the masses, you are required to make contact a minimum of 7 times. The product developers are accomplishing their goal by using affiliates; they don't care what affiliate makes the sale. This method has worked over and over with little work required by the product developer to get maximum saturation of the market.
This is suppose to be a win/win situation; the affiliate makes a commission and the product producer makes a profit. Of course, everyone belonging to the newsletters of the affiliates are bombarded with basically the same information. Maybe, this is what they consider information overload. No, it just overloads our inboxes with a particular promotion for about a month. I normally learn to recognize the promotion after about a week and filter my mail by the keyword in the promotion.
I don't know of an answer to this, and if I wanted to make a lot of money from a product; I'd probably want to employ the same tactic because it works. I do clean house on my computer a couple times a year and the newsletters that I receive more often than weekly goes directly to my delete file. I want to keep abreast of what's going on on the Internet so I probably belong to more newsletters than most. I have been told by my subscribers that they usually sign up for newsletters based upon a give away of some sort. They get their inboxes filled as well.
I suggested they should create an email that should be used for anything that they are curious about or for freebies. Then, if they like the newsletter or whatever, they can always change their email address to the legitimate one later. Don't feel bad about using the unsubscribe option that should be on any email promoting something.
I got off the subject a little, but every now and then if you read long enough, you will find a little tid bits of information that may shed some light. I remember when I started, I didn't have much time to work on my marketing project because I was busy. I was busy looking for the magic bullet that I could use to make my fortune on the Internet. That just cost me a lot of time and money, eventually I got a little smarter. It just doesn't work that way, you have to do the work, even if it's just a little bit at a time. Oh well, it's something interesting to think about!!
